Come Jesus Come…

We’ve Been Waiting So Long…

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. (Ps 62:1)

Musician Stephen McWhirter has one of the most powerful God-given voices I’ve ever heard, and “Come Jesus Come” is one of the most gripping songs I’ve had the pleasure of hearing in a very long time.

I’m relatively sure most will see this song as being about the return of our Lord Jesus Christ at His Second Advent.

Personally, as a lowly narrow way walker, I see this song as twofold: Yes, at His Second Advent, but also at His coming to the believer at authentic regeneration; i.e., at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1Pet 1:13)

This true salvation teaching of a personal revelation to the believer has been removed from today’s church doctrine, just as Peter warned us would happen:

2Peter 2:1-2:

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2Pet 2:1)
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2Pet 2:2)

So, to me, this song is a cry for Jesus to come and reveal Himself to all who have entered in—in truth—at the strait gate and walked the narrow way that leadeth unto eternal life at the end of the narrow way road. (Matt 7:14)

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; (Titus 2:13)

Waiting in the lowest room to be quickened together with our Lord and Saviour in the act of rebirth, just as Jesus said.

But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. (Luke 14:10)

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (Eph 2:5)

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. (Jer 33:3)

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21)

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Rev 3:20)

The groanings in Psalm 88 are of one sitting in that lowest room waiting for Jesus to come. Perhaps that is the reason Jesus says what He says in the Book of Matthew:

Matthew 11:28-30:

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28)
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matt 11:29)
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matt 11:30)

The narrow way walk is a walk of trial and judgment, to reveal to us our evil hearts and need for redemption by our Saviour. It is not the easy (broad) way of the typical modern Christian teachings.

I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. (Ps 119:30)

Come Jesus Come | Stephen McWhirter (Acoustic) | Lyrics:

This song also speaks to me as a plea for Jesus to come and take us home to the Father’s house; especially when I see what’s going on around the world and particularly in my own country today.

Even though it’s a fulfillment of Bible prophecy, it’s very difficult to watch. I never thought I’d actually see it all happening in my lifetime, but here it is…

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Rev 22:20)

Sometimes I fall to my knees and pray
Come Jesus come let today be the day
Sometimes I feel like I’m gonna break
But I’m holding on to a hope that won’t fade

Come Jesus Come we’ve been waiting so long
For the day you return to heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need you right now come and turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come Jesus come
Come Jesus come

There’ll be no war and there’ll be no chains
When Jesus comes let today be the day
He’ll come for the weak and the strong just the same
And all will believe in the power of His name

Come Jesus come we’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return to heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need you right now come and turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come Jesus come
Come Jesus come

One day He’ll come, and we’ll stand face to face
Come and lay it all down, cause it might be today
The time is right now, there’s no need to wait
Your past will be washed by rivers of grace

Come Jesus come we’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return to heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need you right now come and turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come Jesus come
Come Jesus come
Come Jesus come
Come
Come Jesus come
