Daddy’s Hands…

Daddy's Hands

There was always love…

The first time I heard this song I thought of my Daddy because he was very strict and his hands were extremely callused from all his manual labor; he was a tile setter by trade.

I remember many times when he would come home after work with deep cracks in his hands from the cement and grout. Instead of using lotion, he would drench his hands in Best Foods brand mayonnaise.

This song also reminds me of the Lord’s Discipline and I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to look at the word of God for further clarity. As always, there is plenty written about this in the Bible and any other subject one might seek to know the answers to from the Scriptures.

Heb 12:9-11:

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? (Heb 12:9)

For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. (Heb 12:10)

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. (Heb 12:11)

That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever. (Josh 4:24)

The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. (Prov 21:1)

Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. (Isa 62:3)

Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (Matt 3:12)

And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him. (Luke 1:66)

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. (John 3:35)

And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. (Acts 11:21)

I believe our world is in the mess it’s in because we gave up raising our children according to the Bible and taking the word of God out of everything, starting with my generation in our homes and schools; and then progressed to take it out of our government and courts as well.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Prov 22:6)

Also, the preachers, teachers and pastors have removed the way of true, Biblical salvation from the church, just as Jesus said.

We are now under God’s judgment.

LYRICS — DADDY’S HANDS

I remember daddy’s hands
Folded silently in prayer
And reaching out to hold me when I had a nightmare
You could read quite a story in the calluses and lines
Years of work and worry had left their mark behind

I remember daddy’s hands
How they held my momma tight
And patted my back for something done right
There are things that I’ve forgotten that I loved about the man
But I’ll always remember the love in daddy’s hands

Daddy’s hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin’
Daddy’s hands
Were hard as steel when I’d done wrong
Daddy’s hands
Weren’t always gentle but I’ve come to understand
There was always love in daddy’s hands

I remember daddy’s hands workin’ til they bled
Sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over
I’d live my life again
And never take for granted the love in daddy’s hands

Daddy’s hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin’
Daddy’s hands
Were hard as steel when I’d done wrong
Daddy’s hands
Weren’t always gentle but I’ve come to understand
There was always love in daddy’s hands

Daddy’s hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin’
Daddy’s hands
Were hard as steel when I’d done wrong
Daddy’s hands
Weren’t always gentle but I’ve come to understand
There was always love in daddy’s hands
